2022 Year In Review

Watch the video below to see how your gift made a difference last year.

With your support, we advanced youth justice in Washington State in 2022 by:

Growing our Youth Homelessness Program: LCYC served young people in more than a dozen counties through our Youth Homelessness Program. To learn more about our Youth Homelessness Program, click here.

Expanding of Support for Immigrant Youth: LCYC partnered with Northwest Immigrant Rights Project (NWIRP) to strengthen our support for youth seeking Special Juvenile Immigrant Status (SIJS). LCYC helps youth access and secure court orders critical to their long-term safety and stability, paving the way towards U.S. citizenship. To learn more about our services and resources for immigrant youth and families, visit this page.

Increasing Access to Justice through Legal Literacy Resources: We created several videos to help break down common legal issues young people face and how to access legal services. These videos are available in English and Spanish here and on YouTube. We recently conducted a focus group with youth to gather feedback on the videos and inform future topics.

Providing More Accessible Data: We added data dashboards to our website to increase transparency and accountability to the youth and communities we serve. Demographic information and legal issues addressed can be found here.

Advocating for systemic change: LCYC’s systemic advocacy work is informed by the holistic, youth-centered direct representation our staff attorneys provided to over 600 youth in 2022. Youth of color and LGBTQ+ youth are overrepresented within all the systems that LCYC navigates. It is critical to address these disproportionalities through both direct and systemic advocacy. Learn more about LCYC’s systemic advocacy priorities here.
