s. annie chung (JD), Director of Legal Services

S. Annie Chung is a Director of Legal Services supporting LCYC’s Dependency and Juvenile Court programs. Annie was born and raised in Seattle, the traditional land of the Duwamish People past and present. They are a proud Seattleite and always thinking of ways to support their communities.

Annie earned their JD from City University of New York School of Law in 2008. After graduating, they worked at The Center for Family Representation in New York City from 2008 to 2011. Annie continued their family defense work as a solo practitioner until July 2020 when they joined LCYC primarily to join a collective effort to challenge racism in the legal systems they saw their clients embroiled in.

At LCYC, Annie has taken on several roles. They have continued their direct representation of youth in both the dependency and youth homelessness programs. Over the years, Annie also engaged in LCYC’s systemic advocacy work, participating in the Keeping Families Together Coalition, the Washington State Supreme Court’s Commission on Children in Foster Care’s Standards of Practice Workgroup, and several other coalitions/task forces.

Annie’s life goal is to experience everything life has to offer. Annie spends much of their time building community with family and friends. You might find them feasting as all Koreans do, playing with kids, camping, or hanging out by the lake.
